As you’ve followed the news in the past three days, you may have noticed a certain abruptly newfound political piety among some office holding Democrats (not all), as well as certain major media executives. Is it possible that they had a true change of heart and are now committed to normal civil discourse after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump? My own opinion on this is that any penance you see out of these people is because they got a cease-and-desist memo from their own team manager; it could go something like this:
Dear Faithful Insurrection
You all are certainly aware that our field team failed in their mission. and you are also aware that numerous errors in planning and execution have caused significant exposure to risks related to publicly revealed operations. You should therefore take every caution possible to distance yourself from any notion of operational support and sympathy. You are thus strongly encouraged to make public statements counter to both pre-‘event’ rhetoric and obviously, any statement that could be construed as support for our original mission objectives, Instead, you should immediately capitalize on vague statements about civility and peaceful discourse. We assure you, we will be considering and releasing a revised course of appropriately ‘explosive’ verbiage in as short of time as possible. In the meantime, take this opportunity to smooth over and obscure your normal image with those who are not considered our friends. We will return to normal operations as soon as possible.
Best
BHO [aka Screwtape]
Now, of course, this isn’t The actual letter, but is an expository mock up that would summarize all of the various incongruities that we’re plainly observing, both of the assassination attempt and their words and behaviors in the aftermath of the event. It should also serve as a warning to Trump’s security detail and Trump supporters, that all will not be peace and Kum be ya from here until the election, or the inauguration, or even to the entire Presidential term. Beware.
