A certain Mr. David Brooks of the New York Times wrote a piece called: ‘What if We’re the bad guys Here’ I did not, cannot, and will not read the opinion piece directly because I will never dignify the propaganda outlet with a cent of revenue, and they of course have a paywall. I did nevertheless read extensive quotes and related commentary from Revolver, the bad-boy outlet that does have some quirks and misses but also some ground-breaking gumshoe investigative journalism that makes the globalist commies squirm. But this is all opinion anyway, the lowest form of journalism, at least when it’s made by Revolver, but not the New York Times; then it becomes pearls of wisdom. Approach on your knees, peasants, over shards of glass.
Revolver did a fair job dissecting the piece in a generic sort of way, and I will only add a few thoughts that could have and should have been said and weren’t. The admissions by David Brooks are eye raising for an institution so steeped and enamored with itself, that it comes off quite surprising in a way that could put off a conservative in an unguarded moment. Among the greatest vices of progressive establishment media, are the sins of omission. There are lies, there is truth, enough to create the impression of honest objectivity, and then, there is the silent void of all the things that were missing and masked behind the façade, knowing full well, few if any will ever notice.
The Brooks piece appears to be one dimensional, focusing on the cultural dimension of the Trump right versus the progressive left. Its relevant of course, but by doing so, David Brooks sidesteps all ineptitude and corruption of the governing left, the deep state establishment, and the fourth estate of which he is a part, now full partners of the former whom they were chartered to expose once upon a time. He still pretends to be ‘apart’ from them when if fact he is himself covered with the same crime scene slime as his government regime partners. Perhaps he thought he could slip in some penance against some possible future day when there would be a reckoning, so as to not appear to have been so guilty, back-when.
In spite of his piece being calculated to show the appearance of fairness and introspection, his own essential elitism remains quite intact. To paraphrase, it’s as if he were to say, ‘hey trailer park trash conservative Trump loving rubes, maybe you have a point’. Brook’s ego flexes both directions. Conservatives are still all blue-collar working-class populist, as if our values, rooted in hundreds, even thousands of years in classical thought, never existed. I’m talking about trailer park trash like Aristotle, Shakespeare, [God forbid!] the Bible, Adam Smith, Thomas Jefferson, you know, d.e.a.d.w.h.i.t.e.m.e.n. whom New York Time-types despise. Last time I checked, conservatives were still signed on to these values, lock stock and barrel. But alas, we don’t hold others in the high esteem like we should; like Karl Marx, Mao Zedong, Che Guevara, Desmond Tutu, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Dylan Mulvaney. But Brooks and his ilk are somehow far more esteemed, because so many of them went to the Ivy Leagues, g-dmt; Harvard and Yale and Columbia, where they learned about gender studies, equity, socialism, critical race theory, and that you need to be a biologist to understand what a woman is, timeless stuff like that! It’s plain from the quotes reprinted in the Revolver piece, that David Brooks, representing his ‘colleagues’ [hold my double martini please], are still very much in love with themselves and quivering spellbound by their own college pedigrees. It has not entered their skulls that maybe the very political social movement that they and their colleges are riding are the sucker branch on the tree, the aberration in history that may one day be forcefully pruned from the trunk.
The entire regime establishment is deranged by the anti-Trump virus. No, no one can just be a conservative, they must be a Trump conservative. In their minds, Trump comes before and after, the fount from which all conservatives issue forth. Trump is surely proof that all conservatives are backwoods inbreeds because only backwoods inbreeds would look to Trump to champion their sickly values like America First, the values that must surely be racist, even white supremacist, Nazi like, homophobic, sexist, fattist, ableist, and merit based. Trump is the worm eating their brains whole.
Certainly, Trump has a significant representation of the ‘lowbrow’ as they used to be called, and it doesn’t matter because many of them instinctively have a far better grasp on how to run a civilization than the denizens from the far-left progressive pop culture that have hijacked America. But surprise, conservatism is far bigger than Trump and far broader than those that David Brooks considers the ‘lower caste’. Don’t expect him to realize that any time soon.
