A regular Wednesday feature that takes a summary look at hot news issues surrounding Trump during the past week
This past week, Trump was busy first in the Middle East and then Europe. He returned to the swamp to resume his war with leaks, the press, and presumably, the deep state. Jared Kushner, his son-in-law became the focus of the ‘Russian thing’, propelled by a so far – secret letter in the possession of the Washington Post, obtained back in December.
A lot to play-out here but one thing worth noting is the role of the Washington Post. They used to be just old grey traditional liberal media. They were a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of newspaper. They had a good base in solid journalism and you had to be an inside the beltway type or read their editorial page to figure out how they were slanted. No more. [Disclaimer, I am not a subscriber] but based on their headlines filled with opinionated alarmed pathos and how they’ve positioned themselves as the leading attack dog in The Resistance, they’ve gone down the road of journalistic ruin. Just plant a Hillary sign on the lawn, put Obama in as Editor in Chief and have Soros own all the stock, why don’t you? Actually, the paper is owned by Amazon’s Bezos and its fall coincides with his ownership so read into that what you will. I regret to inform you that I shopped on Amazon today but the macro economic reasons why are more significant than today’s Trump news.
Where Trump’s initiatives should succeed:
Europe | Most of what I want to say about the condescension coming from Europe was aired in a piece this week. Europe whines, the Washington Post and others amplify it and it becomes gospel truth. Read the fine print and you see that Trump’s declarations were not so unreasonable or at least have broad support at home. The European leaders main charge against Trump is that he is not the Obama they knew and loved. Okeedokee. Yes Frau Merkel, you don’t really need the United States to hold your hand while you enact Globalism. In all seriousness, the US and Europe do need each other and that will be evident enough the moment ISIS or some progeny scores big. Not if, but when.
Kushner | Kushner was implicated for trying to set up a secret Russian contact. The taint of illegality has been forcefully projected from the onset. I could assign this to the wait and see column but I’m taking a leap and putting it out now that whatever contact he had will fall within the bounds of normal protocol and will have precedent with prior campaigns including Obama’s. Part of my position here is to observe that everything he touches, works, and is successful for his father-in-law. Kushner brings this administration the closest to normal as anyone within Trump’s inner circle and that does not at all sit well with the objectives of The Resistance. They need the Trump administration to remain a sloppy mess. Therefore, Kushner most go, he must be taken out by any means possible.
Where we should take a wait and see approach to Trump’s initiatives before we get the pitchforks:
Reshuffle | As Trump left for his trip, he was basically being shouted out of office and his staff was characterized as in panic from the pressure, from Trumps conduct toward his own people and from the leaks, all of this forming a vicious death loop. Changing the players is now in order. Very well. There’s lots of turnover in this kind of job so have at it, but I’m not so impressed with the CEO in this equation. You can change the deck chairs on the ship, but the captain is still responsible for whether the ship sinks or swims. There probably is a saboteur in the group as implied by some news stories. You can’t brow beat your staff until you find the one. Walk softly and carry a big stick.
Where Trump’s initiatives should be reversed:
Covfefe | Obviously, we can’t have a Prez fat finger his tweets!
