If you read conservative media, you’ll know that Obama turned 60 and had a big party in Martha’s Vineyard this past weekend. It was a huge bash for the rich and famous. Naturally, there was a backlash to the notion of ‘elites’ flouting mask rules during a pandemic spike, all the while enforcing draconian rules for everyone else. There was also blatant deception and hypocrisy in ‘scaling back’ his list by just a few guests once word got out about the size of the whole endeavor. While these things are irksome to me, including the condescension of the apologists for Obama’s party, I think there’s a deeper message that should be read from the conspicuous display of opulence.
I don’t rue Obama a birthday party, not even a big one, and not one attended by famous guests. I don’t despise the lack of masks or concerns for a super-spreader covid event. As a matter of fact, I’d want the same level of freedom for any event I might put on or attend. I’d want the freedom to choose whether I would get exposed to covid, potentially get sick, or worse; I believe it should be my choice based on my own precautions and my own understanding of the science. When it comes to covid, let’s not do what they say, let’s do what they do. I can’t vouch for any attendee having the official capacity to dictate to us that we must do otherwise, but I assume it’s probable.
If anyone should be upset by the Obamas flaunting their own liberty, it’s the tens of millions of nitty-bitty, fear-obsessed liberals from Democrat strongholds who had an existential crisis when mask mandates were initially lifted –the ones who scolded you in the grocery aisle over how you wore (or didn’t wear) your mask. They’re the ones who should be indignant that their gilded, iconic, and deified idol doesn’t really believe what they say they believe or what they told others they must do. Rather, the Obama crowd acted like conservatives in regard to liberty. How ironic.
There are two other possible modes that this party may represent. The first is that it was only ostensibly a birthday party but was, really, a celebration for Obama being — make no mistake — the present shadow president who is directing the socialist devolution of America, which he believes he is winning or has already won. He’s successfully gotten the entire Democrat party to carry his water on their backs (again) and do his heavy lifting while he lives a life of blithe leisure worthy of an emperor. He believes he is seeing the first phase of a transfer of wealth from the productive to the nonproductive. In this mode, he cares not about the chances of his party’s re-election (again, just like when he was president), as long as his agenda takes more steps forward than it takes back. So all of the ‘moderate’ and even ‘liberal’-lite Democrats who’ve handed their brains and nuts over to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, it’ll be ‘thanks for the memories’ after they’ve betrayed their constituency and stabbed them in the back to pass the proscribed far-left agenda. Obama will still have gotten his party and you people weren’t even invited. There is indeed something pathetic about a star-struck politician like Obama. It does verge into the crass.
The other possibility is that this party is, was, or will become the proverbial Nero fiddling while his demented city is sacked and burned. Perhaps they party too soon and way too hard. Maybe the CRT, redistribution of wealth, socialist, pervert pride crowd will not quite take their final prize before a truly disgusted America takes back a sufficient number of public offices to snuff the reason for their gathering. Who can know? I do know that it’s a prophesy that we can self-fulfill regardless of what Obama does.
