Juneteenth (June 19th) was originally designated in 1865. In 2021, it was declared a federal holiday, joining Martin Luther King Day as federal holidays dedicated to using black heritage as a pretense for the majority population, whites, especially and mostly public sector whites, to go shopping. Free at last.
Is it possible for one to wish charity towards a particular ethnic demographic without exercising repeated, fetishized, and guilt-laden symbolic pandering? If it were up to Washington DC, and a Biden administration in particular, the answer is no.
While I don’t actually begrudge leisure for anyone, I get the uneasy sense that the proverbial ‘camels back’ is weakening. Every few years we gift yet more time – which is really taxpayer money – we gift that to our public servants, federal, state, municipal, filtering down to banks, other fru-fru non-essential ventures, we give them the leisure to put upon the lower ranks of service, retail, food, and travel industries staffed by rubes, many in minority classes. Of course, this indulgence pales in comparison to the transfer of wealth to a whole class of NGO questionable recipients receiving billions in largess on the backs of taxpayers and our descendants, but who’s counting? No one apparently.
Maybe the only reason this is a discussion involving blacks and Juneteenth is because a) it became their 2nd exclusive holiday, a far disproportion for a loosely defined ethnicity, the majority of which never had ancestors toiling in cotton fields and kitchens. This begs a charge of slight to all the other subgroups awaiting an equally futile and expensive gesture. And b) The United States or what is left in its increasingly cloudy future, has obligated itself (us) in perpetuity for the pandering of votes in this election cycle by the outrageously cynical and corrupt Bidenite Democrat machine. In theory, a hundred years from now, we’ll still be paying the price of non-productivity by whomever avails themselves of Junteenth. Ironically, I predict it’ll still be Whites, Hispanics, and whatever other non-native group crashes our party. It won’t be blacks anymore then than now. Whatever ‘progress’ was made in the past 50 years, will carry forward to the next 50 and beyond. Everything I hear from Democrats suggests that there was no progress, only defeat for Blacks.
Any ‘true meaning’ for Juneteenth was celebrated by any and all that cared, prior to June 19, 2021. Can anyone with intellectual honesty truly say that that meaning hasn’t been sullied going forward?
