In the aftermath of the riots and an outright purge by Silicon Valley of Trump and various others on the right, nothing is resolved and in fact, there is uneasy waiting that I’m pretty certain masks another major escalation. As per my initial assessment after the January 6 riots, my core concern is: where is the leadership in all conservative movements right now. A lot of people are asking, what do we do now? Here’s my take on it.
We must not abandon the political process. Relative to building, leading, developing, acting on a need for leadership starting at a local level, I suggest these focus points:
- The first option for leadership is always elected representatives and executives. If yours is corrupted, those of a neighboring jurisdiction are sufficient for a time.
- If you have no sponsors inside government, that is not a failure of government, it is a failure of the electorate to plan, prioritize, and execute democratic goals.
- All politics is local. People pay the price at the grassroots and earn their way to the top. This applies to the elected and the electors.
- Critical mass for popular success cannot be intentionally hidden. Stay away from secret political organizations.
- Networking begets organization begets political process.
The next election cycle will be most critical. At the end of the day, the integrity of all elections is the purview of the states. Beyond that, every precinct must stand their ground. It’s a given that certain ones will be lost to the leftist, one way or another, but if conservatives doubled their efforts in all others, we would prevail. The grass roots should be the singular focus of Republicans and Independents in 2022.
It would be easy to panic right now over the coordinated cancelling and de-platforming taking place at the hand of Big Tech and to start looking to the those with the wildest conspiracy theories. Even if they are partially or wholly true, it would not negate the necessity to exercise the maximum degree of political process.
Whatever you do locally, the likelihood of further escalation by the left to crush all conservative voices and agenda is absolutely certain. I discussed this at some length back in December. At the time, I thought this would be a multi-year process but it’s literally being compressed into days before our very eyes!
This brings us to Trump. I am at this time, not in favor of him returning to government and quite frankly, Big Tech is actually more formidable to conservatism than anything government can do. For the moment, we have specific states, Federalism, courts, and demographic geography providing a backstop to anything that government can do right now. WE HAVE NOTHING TO DEFEND US AGAINST BIG TECH.
Trump has hinted at involvement in tech platforms in response to his de-platforming. I’m actually in favor of trump building out a new media platform because a) He may be one of a few or the only one who could attract that needed capital and b) quite frankly, I fear Silicone valley more than I fear Washington.
Stay tuned!
