I’ve avoided commenting on ‘Pride Month’ because in past years, I’ve already said what I needed to say and to some extent, repeated myself several times. I risk doing so again. What may be different this time is that Pride Month is out of the closet. This is of course just my perception based on news coverage, but given the arc, the ripening, the over ripening, and eventual rotting -now in its beginning phase – of the entire ‘identity politics’ culture wars, Pride Month is no longer, even primarily, about the celebration of sodomy, my ungracious but frank and accurate interpretation of its roots and meaning. Pride Month is now unabashedly about all of its derivatives. Gone are the days when they needed to be defensive about their desires to involve kids. Today, it just is. And what are you going to do about it? That’s the attitude. Sure, there are ‘traditional’ gays that are fully integrated and institutionalized but that has always been the case and always will be, but you’ll never see them marching in a Pride parade.
There are two ways to view the present state of gaiety: One is that the popular movement is dispersing. Pride parades have been cut back and some cancelled altogether. Students are not clamoring as much now to claim queerness. Transing is in total meltdown as the gate to litigation against doctors is swinging wide open. The Trump administration has cock-blocked billions of dollars going out the door for thousands of sexual identity programs, studies, initiatives, direct payment for sex reassignment surgery, other subsidies, and such, across dozens of agencies. We’re returning the point that if you want to be fabulous, you’re going to have to do it on your own dime without government intervention on your behalf. Big-Business is shutting the door to Big-Gay, the industry operating within their own boardrooms like an autonomous dictator subtlety or not so subtlety forcing their hand on every decision, particularly in the HR division, stakeholders be damned. All of this isn’t just a setback or softening of gay support in these areas; they are real and substantive changes of the social pendulum. The circus can only get so ridiculous before it has to wind down. At some point in time, people realize that maybe natural biological identity and destiny are calling louder than the cry to be a freak. People age, grow up, have to take on boring jobs that get the bills paid and that all the outrageousness that piled onto the Pride movements might just be a little much to manage and still hold down a 9-5 job in a mid-sized market. In short, ‘other peoples money’ is in short supply.
The other perspective is that the Pride movement(s) have already won. Nowhere is this more evident than in many established ‘Christian’ denominations. The mainline denominations have fallen hard. They will go fully extinct before they retrace their steps back to where they came from. (Pride folx can feel warm and fuzzy knowing that their activism will snuff out whole denominations over time.) Their seminaries likewise, are captured. A sizable catatonic and passive portion of the vaguely spiritual public is now conditioned to numbly listen to the likes of James Talarico running for the Senate for Texas. Talarico is an amalgam of every woke trope with a weird bent for Pride causes but he does so with a twisted identity to a pseudo-Christian audience. That he even has any audience is evidence of Christian collapse. Even evangelicalism has been co-opted into the Pride agenda, partly due to paid infiltration.
Pride Month will go on but we’re at the beginning phases where resistance is not an automatic or final damnation. Maybe we can say that it is now finally a war because it’s no longer just one uncontested side pushing the Pride agenda down everyone’s throat. Resistance has entered the room. Happy Pride month y’all.
