Socialism in America
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic Socialist from the Bronx is dumber than a box of rocks, evident most every time she opens her mouth. Her party of ostensible affiliation is in a bind, unsure of whether to support or snuff her. For all gentle non-socialists, it would be easy to conclude that reasonable people everywhere will respond appropriately and send her back to the obscurity; after all, all of her endorsed candidates just lost a round of elections. In the long run, am not entirely convinced she will just go away for several reasons. First, the left is desperate for heroes. Bernie started the current movement but he’s old and also a sell-out millionaire. Second, a full-out socialist revival is overdue, historically. Don’t think it can’t happen again and it isn’t essential for socialism to be the leading power structure in order to wreak havoc. Third, people are not getting smarter; they’re getting both angrier and confused. The emerging tech elite economy is disenfranchising, marginalizing, and silencing huge blocks of working class people. The new tech giants are indeed the digital historical equivalent to the industry age robber barons. Ill-informed socialism is an incredibly (too good to be true) tidy answer to all of that. Wouldn’t knowledge of history save us? Even wanting to know history is almost considered racist, certainly bourgeois. Don’t count on it! We think in news cycles or in election cycles. The Ocasio-Cortez brand of dumb socialism is probably willing to fight the machine much long.
More Climate Stuff
I just posted a climate doubters piece and I’m not finished with this. An article I ran across: Let’s All Take a Breath and Read That ‘Hothouse Earth’ Paperby Maddie Stone points to another grand conceit in the whole climate craze; what to do about it. Here are a few of the quoted calls to action:
“he hoped the paper would “raise a debate that will lead to more research,” especially on the risks of cascades between various tipping elements.”
“should get the attention of every citizen, business person, and politician around the world.”
“As a scientist, I find myself continually wondering: how much more synthesis and good evidence do we need to cause society to take this issue seriously?”
Let me restate this for you: more research, everyone’s attention, take it seriously. Really people? Let me break that down yet another notch: send more money, don’t question us.
This is one reason I really get off the climate whack’s boat, We’re supposed to give b-b-b-b-b-billions of dollars for them to navel gaze a misinterpreted problem to death, while the earth burns with plenty of fixable problems. Send a million of your study money to India’s shoreline to mechanize the cleanup of thousands of tons of plastic and trash. Figure out a better design for wind generators that don’t chop up tens of thousands of birds. Go to Beijing or New Delhi and kick start the political process to clean up their poison air!
Any one that really does get serious about climate change should work to shut down the climate guilt monopoly and reallocate that money to real environmental work – to people that put on rubber boots and gloves.
Trans This and That
Perhaps you’ve noticed that you cannot navigate anywhere in media without running into a plethora of references to the emerging trans-gender world. I have a dim view of social initiatives that require massive medical intervention for something other than sickness and the physically broken. If your identity is dependent on the supply chain of procedures and hormones from a medical system that’s bloated, volatile, and wildly expensive, I think you have a shock coming up in your future. I do not see this ending well for you as a demographic. As a libertarian, I am all about your freedom of expression and identity. Also as a libertarian, I also think you’ll need deep pockets. And did I mention that I’m sick of hearing it about it as if half our population were tranny wanna-bees?!
