I wrote a piece on the immigrant child crisis but the news cycle moves so fast that the story is almost entirely lost a few weeks after it was hyped. I don’t favor separation of parents from children but I’m stunned how thoroughly the issue was politicized and the degree to which prior policy and practice by other administrations were ignored. What I am left with is to observe the profound ignorance and hate of some people, especially in popular culture.
Speaking of which, all of our main-line comedians should just take a desk at MSNBC. Gawd, what a crock of shit.
The prospect of a supreme court appointment has eclipsed immigration issues and heightened the aforementioned hate to new heights. As I observed at the appointment of Gorsuch: sorry folks, that is the President’s prerogative. I see civil unrest ahead with this fight but as before, but if you’re liberal, you will lose this fight as well.
I’ve predicted civil strife before but so far, have not seen anything materialize on a scale of ‘war’. The court appointment doesn’t have to be that event but it is a good candidate for setting something off. Will this be the thing that brings a member of the unhinged left out to take out the president? Rhetoric circulating in the news suggests that it could be.
The shooting at a newspaper in Annapolis, MD highlights the pervasiveness of unstable people. Everyone. Knew. And yet he could not be stopped. We should all be a little more afraid.
The world cup: video clips, yes, otherwise, yawn. But the faux injuries are pretty funny.
Maybe American football will be better managed this year (and btw, players can protest when they’re off the clock of their employer.)
