I used to comment on the background to these posts more often. It seems it’s been a good two years or more. This is for the benefit of the two hypothetical regular readers to these posts. I used to keep track via Google Analytics but then quit even that. The results became implausible. I also assumed that the search engine itself buried the posts deeply, even deeper, not that it ever offered an endorsement of this content, but from a certain point forward, I entrusted this site to whatever exposure I received on various – mostly conservative – social media sites, knowing that that too was also weighted toward conservative stars that are aligned, marketed, bankrolled, connected, (all of which I am not). Nevertheless, I persevere. I have faith in this content, warts-and-all. Some time back, I lamented the sorry state of conservative punditry. Most were playing what I call ‘Captain Obvious’, saying true but painfully simplistic ideas about our contemporary civic ruin, and getting paid the big bucks to do it. There is still plenty of that around in conservative thought, but it has improved somewhat. There is more quality hard-hitting content available now. I still claim a niche of focusing (mostly) on three things: picking news or aspects of news stories that I think are not yet getting wide considerations; saying certain outrageous things – truth telling – that respectful writers won’t touch; making predictions that others dare not yet make. It is the nature of this calling that I remain in obscurity; that is, until the great communist machine called STATE and WOKE and its power and blood-thirsty minions from Hell passes rules and legislation that will land me in prison or worse. Unfortunately, these are in the news this very week. I’m devoting much less time to these columns presently, but I assume this is a temporary state. It’s because of energy, season, season of life, and just rolling with a slower pace that comes with my circumstances at hand; a family member getting married, a vacation abroad that was pleasantly all-engrossing, preparing for changing routines over the next couple of years… The outworking has been to shift from two columns per week on average to one, or maybe one every other week. We’ll see. I won’t force anything. Maybe there’s a little less urgency precisely because the quality of writing and commentary by conservative columnist in general has gotten better. I’m just a drop of water in a great sea and I’m OK with that.
