Legal immigration is good.
Illegal immigration is bad.
Open borders and immigration is not the same thing.
There has never been equal access to legal immigration by all nations.
American interests have always defined the terms of legal access to immigration, at least until a specific point that occurred just in the past several years.
America is still open to immigration and will continue to be for the foreseeable future even through restrictions and reorganization of policy.
When the masses of misinformed claim the closure of immigration, the legitimacy of illegal immigration, or deny the need for standards in immigration, they are really asserting the desire for open borders and a desire to not be governed by the same America that nurtured and fed them. Such is the fever pitch of the willful ignorant. Part of me wishes they could experience the full-extended consequence of their sentiment and perhaps there is a small chance they will.
Immigration is not ‘my topic’. By my observation it has been mismanaged by varying degrees for a long time but has nevertheless held together. I love diversity and other cultures. This has been honed by my own forays outside the United States. In that respect, I am an internationalist. The deeply troubling aspect to the immigration drumbeat is our own people that are willfully misconstruing and denying our history and laws. I can honestly say I am far more sickened by them and not the prospect of an immigrant. Imagine a would-be immigrant that has yearned for our lawful traditions for decades and then finally gains entrance only to find we’ve reduced ourselves to the same mob-passions that they fled. The American mob is our greatest danger, not an immigrant.
