Maui Fires
Once the smoke clears, literally and figuratively, the Maui Fires will be regarded as an American Holocaust where hundreds, maybe thousands of middle class children and others were horrifically subjected to gross negligent manslaughter by woke government and emergency services, all in the name of – who knows and who cares, but there was some compulsory reason that may or may not ever see the light of day in the ultra-liberal progressive state. Conspiracy theories abound. Does it matter which one is right? It would be if justice were even remotely possible. What is clear is that the known, spoken, declared, and demonstrated callous incompetence on so many fronts, overwhelmingly breaks the bounds of credulity. The only wild card now is the coverup needed to protect the next level of perpetrators.
Progozhin
Yevgeny Progozhin, the warlord leader of the mercenary Wagner Group is dead. Or so we assume, as he had doubles at hand. So Progozhin, or a double, is dead and surely Putin is again the assassin. It’s impossible to choose between a war criminal and someone that would overthrow a war criminal. Stripped of all politics, that is what is left. Progozhin nearly succeeded in a coup, exposed Putin’s weaknesses, and humiliated him. Could he have finished the job? There’s no way to know for certain but he certainly could have given Putin’s opposition the springboard that they needed. One lesson can be said though; The next warlord to try it won’t stop a few hundred miles from Moscow.
The Mug Shot
Trump’s mugshot is described as the mugshot heard round the world, the game changer, the rocket that will finally annihilate the regime in the election. While that is symbolically true, it would be best to regard that opinion as a healthy dose of hype. I happen to believe that a simple majority would already elect Trump in 24 with or without a mugshot and that absent all quasi-legal election manipulation already institutionalized in six or more critical swing states, Trump would be a shoo in for an electoral victory. The mug shot is thus a distraction. If Trump cannot get a handle on rogue elements that persist within the Republican establishment and if Trump and collectively, the party, cannot get their legal pieces in place prior to the general election, there is no guarantee that even a landslide cannot be stolen. I have no worry for the four criminal cases Trump is facing in as much as they all have procedural and constitutional flaws that will be used. There is the off chance that one of them could produce events that ignite a civil war shooting match in which case all bets are off. Until then, stay sober.
