If Covid was a ‘normal’ pathogen, it would have been licked by now. When you combine the total number of vaccines administered and the number of cases experienced (= immunity), it equals about 70%, the standard accepted threshold for herd immunity. Some, like Fauci for instance, arbitrarily dispute that figure; but, in fact, we don’t really hear about herd immunity anymore because it isn’t going to happen. Covid is a coronavirus, one of several classes that make up the common cold, but yet embedded in its genetic code is a much more lethal base. It appears at this time that the best we can expect are seasonal waves that ebb and tide. The Covid vaccine, as compared with other vaccines, is somewhat of a miracle worker, but only up to a point. It may in fact also express attributes that end up perpetuating Covid indefinitely although that’s quite unclear based on the lack of credible research released to the public. In that light, it’s curious that Fauci has just signaled boosters shots will be restricted. Why? It isn’t because there aren’t enough to go around. New vaccinations are just a trickle of demand right now. What is Fauci not really telling us this time? This just emphasizes yet again how Fauci, the CDC, and the NIH have permanently tainted public health science to the point that they’re no longer trustworthy. It isn’t just data and conclusions anymore, it’s what, who, and how must we manipulate the public today, usually aligned with political directives.
Perhaps the best way to understand where Covid is going is to watch where public policy on Covid is headed. That gives you a truer read; don’t listen to what they say, look at what they do. At this point, everyone has egg on their face. Isn’t there some incidental satisfaction that the part of the general-public who didn’t vote for Trump because he didn’t make Covid go away are now holding Biden to blame for the same thing? Ironic, isn’t it? So many pompous elected officials who went around and preened over their supposed success in fighting Covid are now dealing with new bad numbers in spite of all the measures they bragged about. Flatten the curve stay home wear your mask stay home some more get vaccinated stay home and wear a mask anyway don’t go out in public now it’s all the fault of unvaccinated people and no matter what they do no matter what they said and how much credit they took, now the numbers go up and up on their watch….and they scratch their head in dismay. Some states had the percentages required in order to claim herd immunity and it’s made no difference in their Covid numbers with this current wave. What they won’t tell you now is that it’s starting to dawn on them that nothing that government can do is going to work at this point…… but they don’t want to tell you that out-right because government is supposed to be the answer, isn’t it? Even when it isn’t. So now there’s a dilemma: on the one hand many elected officials were very happy to use out-of-hand Covid numbers for bolstering their political agendas, but now they’re being held accountable for the failure of their policies. Too bad they have to take it both ways.
So what does it mean for us? First, depending on where you live and the fate of vaccination mandates (a separate topic), you may at least can go out in public, attend some events, go to a restaurant, and probably stay in school because it’s either that or go back to the dark ages with our education system, so all of that great caution that we had last year really meant nothing, so this year you’re able to get out and do things. You also stand a small chance of getting sick even if you’re vaccinated, even if cases diminish, but this will not go away soon. That risk will be here this year, next year, the year following, until who knows when. If you’re unvaccinated, you will almost certainly get Covid sooner or later, and, depending on your risk group, you stand an elevated chance of dying — but take your chances if you wish because that’s your freedom. The risk of death from Covid is > 1% and from the flu < 1%, both greatly exacerbated by a person’s age. No one forces you to get a flu vaccine, but you may be forced to get one for Covid soon.
We’re in the ‘cold war’ phase of Covid now. It made a big splash on the world stage, killed a lot of people, and now it’s nominally managed in most states, but it isn’t going away. I now expect to that we’ll still be wrestling with Covid even 5-10 years from now. The medical community will adjust. Covid wards will become a permanent part of hospital care. But one caveat is this, as it is a man-manipulated franken-virus (for whom you can directly thank Dr. Fauci for that), we don’t know the full extent of its ability to morph into another acute, lethal form. Long-term, low-level management is the best-case scenario at this point.
What is more certain is the political ramifications. Globalist progressive politicians demonize ‘the unvaccinated,’ claiming that many are Republicans and are not college educated. This is where they’re planting their flag. They’re ignoring that millions of unvaccinated are college educated, even with advanced degrees, even in the medical field and hope that by ignoring that and by their summary characterizations, they will disparage their political enemies. They also ignore that the largest block of unvaccinated by demographic group are Blacks and Hispanics, groups they try to assert ownership over. What they’ve done is mounted an all-out class war. The unvaccinated are demonized to cover politician’s abject failure at delivering the country from Covid. Is that fair to them? On one level no, but once they attempted to take credit for prior remissions when in fact they did far more harm, they deserve the rap.
Everyone deserves to make their own choices regarding vaccination, and, should they choose not to be vaccinated, to also make whatever other choices needed to protect themselves, such as limiting their social contacts. Politicians have already killed millions in this Covid struggle. They’ve actually ‘poisoned the well’ for many regarding vaccinations. Maybe they should back off now.
