Canadia O Canadia – A Little Note To My Neighbors Up North

I’ve wanted to write about Canada again for well over a year. Now I’ll shoot for it. Since I last wrote of them a few years ago, a lot has changed, unfortunately, not for the better. My knowledge of Canada is limited to headlines, some deeper analysis from the commentariat, and a few friends and past acquaintances that I hear from on social media. While that’s sparse as sourcing, it does qualify as multi-dimensional.

The coastal fringe of Canada, like the edges of the United States, has always leaned liberal. Everything else in between mirrors the interior of the US, far more conservative, so much so that they’ve started to clamor for independence. Over the past two decades, Canada has gone from simply skewing liberal to embracing EU style postmodern self-destruction, but with its own unique flair. Closet communist Trudeau, assuredly the scion of Fidel Castro made sure his country embraced every wokeism possible until it assured his demise. To that he added a unique large-scale initiative of euthanistic policy that’s still growing today, even as the country plows ahead under new leadership. Go to Canada to die, to be put to death at the convenience of the government, the collective public; it is your moral duty.

Canada slogged through grossly extended Covid restrictions, almost theatrical in scope, scandals involving Trudeau, they bombed out the opportunity to go conservative because Poilievre compromised his way out of meaning anything, and now, the new PM Carney plays the strong man with a weak hand, has faced and failed to recertify tariff imbalances with the US, and is now the recipient of new stiff tariffs. Despite all that, he and the Canadian establishment, and every Canadian I have acquaintance with, still talks like they’re our moral superiors, with all the aplomb you’d expect from a 19th century aristocracy.

Why the arrogance Canadia O Canadia? It’s through the ruminations of my old friends and acquaintances with Canadian ties that I measure the drift of their culture. They seem oblivious to their countries’ embrace of medical death culture, their resemblance to effete EU governments being quickly and perhaps permanently buried beneath third world invasion, clueless of their lack of economic clout, but ever so assured of their moral righteousness, like how could an America First Trumpian America ever dare assert its dominance over such a vital and brilliant ally? Surely Canada wishes they had company in their descent as a Western power, no matter how secondary it’s always been. But we’ve moved on.

Canada is a friend. As already said, I have Canadian friends. They are an ally, we’ve done battle together. But to restore what once was, they could use a dash of humility as the weaker partner. Yes, weaker partner, I said it. Even feeling all bold and bad to be identified and bound to all of dithering Europe doesn’t increase their scope of prestige. Maybe they just didn’t notice that most of Europe is on the precipice with energy dependance, was too prissy to worry about seriously defending itself until Trump just now forced them to do so, has attacked free speech as efficiently as any fascist regime ever did, and is being overrun by third world hordes. I would love to hear my Canadian friends admit that a Strong Trumpian American makes them a stronger and more secure neighbor. I’d love to not have to listen to their bullshit moral overtones, to their pandemic Trump Derangement Syndrome. I’d love to see them accept equitable tariffs rather than try to justify their imbalances; and I’d love to see them display a lot more self-doubt over their ditching core human rights such as their euthanasia policies and free speech suppression. They love to bitch at us like a barking chihuahua. Maybe they should consider returning to what was our common historical values. Ya know, the neighbor thing works both ways.
