I present an amplification to some earlier thoughts re: the Coronavirus pandemic. In the first week or two or three of the crisis, there were some ways that we had unusual cooperation. I described this as a ‘quiet’. Of course, there was some dissent and of course always politics, but we all started out with a lot of uncertainty that acted as a unifier or an equalizer. The middle time period included partial lockdowns turning to almost all being locked down, various bailouts, everyone adjusting to realities. We all became preppers. Then the rebellions started as people began to have real issues with the medical expert’s judgment, economic hardships, opposing forces appeale for longer compliance. Today, we have clear opposing divides.
Reading through headlines on various aggregators of news about C-19 stories, I’m struck with the positions each side have taken up, and the hills they fight for and on. Yes, this is warfare to each fighting faction and the analogies are apt. The positions each side are taking seem to be increasingly irrespective of any new developments except that those developments are now polarized. Each side chooses their own set of news developments and ignores the others, but in this, they are not equal.
The liberal, progressive, and dare I say, one-worlder position, appears to have taken a stand for predictive calamity; almost comically stark. The conservative folk, of who’s camp I identify mostly, has the fortunate position of embracing hope. Medicines are working, hospitals are not full, full lockdowns are no longer needed most places – as long as some precautions are taken, the Swedish approach appears to have been equal or better with less economic destruction. This is a model and ethic going forward.
On the other side is gloom and doom. Draconian lockdowns were necessary, questioning them was rebellion, even greater lockdown is still necessary. C-19 infections will not go down, they will only increase. There will be a worse rebound in the fall, a full fledged round 2, it will never go away and will become part of our normal circulation along with flus and colds every year. Medicine therapies don’t work, are perpetually ‘unproven’ even when front line doctors have success with them. A vaccine is 18 to 24 months away, you should be required to take it, (except that also, one may never be developed) and you will also need to be chipped and tracked like a dog or cat. If you rebel against this idea, you will be anti-science, anti-social, culpable, irresponsible, and a low-life. You must get used to long-term home confinement, far less travel, far less communal worship, far less meat and protein, and permanent shortages of everything. You must no longer expect in-person voting. Everything must be digitized so that your vote goes down an impenetrable digital hole, never to be seem or examined again. Public protests will of course be banned on the basis of unacceptable public heath risks. This is just a cross section, not a catalog; it is the ‘optimism’ of the one-world left.
In between are some doctors, nurses and critical supply chain folks that have borne a disproportionate burden during this time. While the view from the ER was at first glance supportive the left leaning narrative, it is not as much so now. The folks down the hall certainly disagreed because cancelled elective surgeries have left their duty floors bare and their pay cut; that is if they haven’t been laid off entirely.
Bill Gates, the WHO, Fauci, and most notably, a fair number of Governors, are well invested in the worst-case scenario. One can only wonder if they’re staking their position for the new world order or is it all about Trump? It certainly bears some evidence to a raw lust for unprecedented power. They seem to really really enjoy this crisis like they’re intoxicated. It’s as if they could speak something into being, it will be so. They hoped for more sustained ruin up front and when it didn’t come, they hope for it on the back end. Be incredulous, but this is the pattern their positions have told us. Timing is everything in this instance and a virus wields its own destiny to some extent. Nevertheless, pray, not for your life, but that we and our children will not become the serfs of a technocracy.
