I start out by saying, as I always do when I comment on debates, that I did not watch it. In fact, I’ve avoided even video blurbs; therefore, these are really comments on the collective synthesis of the debates. Calling it a debate is dubious in as much as it was designed, set up and managed as an overt ambush. There are millions of words published about these details so I’ll not repeat them except to point the reader to the whistleblower story developing that will likely document what is already obvious to every honest impartial inquirer.
Many conservative pundits that I esteem pointed out that Trump, at best, blew many big opportunities during the debate. Many others, simply called the debate a disappointing draw. Trump thinks he did well. Kamala’s people acted like they slew a dragon. The reality is that after 3 days of polls, even undecided independent voters skew toward Trump based on his performance or Kamala’s theatrics. There is no one that doesn’t know what values and positions Trump represents. The only thing we know of Kamala is that she is willing to lie and flip her position on anything to get through the election. Even her own people openly admit it. That is the sum of her policy positions.
Thus, my main thought: Trump should be allowed to be imperfect. Missed opportunities? Was the ‘debate’ just another Jeopardy episode? That’s why I don’t watch them; it’s just a game show. Was Trump arrogant not to have prepared better? How would ‘debate preparation’ have better prepared Trump for an ambush? It’s not like he could bring a lawyer to hit a big red button when the shenanigans began. Trump has been in a lot of debates now. He alone in this race has been liberal in his press and interview access. It’s time for his team to step up more. The notion of an earring speaker in Kamala’s ear or secret pre-knowledge of questions is not new. These were rumored and probably tried in debates with Hillary and Joe. What preparation did his team make for that possibility? I don’t think anyone can begin to imagine the weight of being the sole person responsible for not turning the country over to a fem-Maduro wanna-be. We all want to play armchair critic. We’ve got to get over that and particularly, our impulse to shoot who at this hour, is the only one standing between us and political and cultural annihilation.
